God is the way the truth and the life. God is the only good and the only one that leads to life. God is the answer – every time. I have found this to be true not only in my own life but around the world. The world needs God. When He is absent there is chaos and despair, confusion and darkness. It is no wonder that places without the Lord are hopeless and fighting. God has literally designed them for the worship and praise of THE Almighty. He has carefully created each and every little detail about us to work in alignment with His greater design and for our good. Then He instructed us in these ways throughout the Bible.
Think about it. We are instructed to love one another as ourselves. If we do this, we not only get the joy of serving others but we in turn are also being served. Or the direction to, “love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind.” This teaching is deeply beneficial. Human beings love to love and be loved. However, although humans are finite God is infinite. God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. He is there for us to love, and to be loved by, forever. There are numerous examples of God’s direction. He has given us the ultimate life-giving plan.
I have seen first-hand what happens to people and nations when they don’t know God or reject Him altogether. The extreme need for God becomes a real and tangible thing. Of course this can happen anywhere, but as I was in India and Nepal, I could feel the lack of God. I could feel how broken and dark the world in which they are living is. People walked around with eyes almost glazed over from hopelessness. Others selfishly physically pushed people down because in their view their neighbors hold no importance. But then, when we would meet a Christian in those places you could feel the light around them. The joy and hope they possessed was clearly seen. When you walk in the way of the Lord you shall be transformed from death to life. God is life! Meeting these individuals then prompted me to rejoice in the Lord further.
While in these countries being a Christian was a black and white decision. It was life or death, God or opposers. There was no lukewarmness. Being a Christian is illegal there. So, you were either all in or all out. But in truth, this is how it is everywhere. God is either nothing to you or He’s your everything. I so desire for Him to be my everything. God has intentionally designed us for the pursuit of Him. Why not walk in the way He has called? To follow Him more closely and to grow in my faith, I want to form my life to His design. When I am struggling with motivation to read my Bible or the desire to talk to people about God, I remind myself of just how life giving He is. He asks me to give my heart to Him and in return He gives life! When I struggle with discipline, I think about how people around the world are giving it their all to follow the Lord, yet I can’t give up 30 minutes to indulge in His word.
We must take actions within our faith in order to have a deeper relationship with the Lord. We often take for granted our freedom of faith and don’t take advantage of the ability we have to deepen it. By intentionally going deeper and growing in our faith we build a strong foundation in Christ so we can go out and relay the truth God has to offer. This is crucial to becoming the hands and feet of Jesus. Discipline is key to success. Dive into the word. Prayerfully fight for your salvation and the salvation of others. Turn your eyes off of yourself and fix them on God for it is all about Him and His strength. Give Him your all. It is easy to get caught up in the world but remember the Lord has designed all things is for His glory and our good. Live in the way He has orchestrated. It is not always easy but it sure is life giving. Stay disciplined, form your life according to Him and give Him your all. He does not desire lukewarm; He desires a hunger for Him. God is life.
