I absolutely love the mission field ya’ll! Sure, it has its ups and downs, but that’s the beauty of it. There are days where you are extremely homesick and then there are days where you are deeply on fire for the ministry work. There are days where you feel incredibly close to God and others where you feel very distant. Days where the people you talk to don’t even know the name of Jesus and some days where the people you visit end up ministering to you. It is such an adventure following the Lord!

One of the things I am learning, and seeing firsthand, is just how much people long for the Gospel and the Good News. I knew that spreading the Good News was important, I just didn’t realize how much so or how our world is in such dire need for it. The Great Commission calls us to, “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20) He has called those that know the name of Jesus to go and plant seeds so that one day the harvest will be great.

Here in Nicaragua my team is not bringing the Gospel to these people for the first time, but we are given the opportunity to be a reminder of God’s love and the importance of turning to Him. We can see just how prevalent the love of God is in these homes. It is beautiful and encouraging to recognize just how transformative the Word of Jesus really is. Seeing all of this just reiterates the importance of spreading the Gospel, both as a reminder in places where the name of Jesus is not a new concept and in so many places around the world where Jesus is unknown – such as the 10/40 window.

On this trip I am given the opportunity to go into the 10/40 window and be just one member of those who will bring the Good News to these nations. For those of you who do not know what the 10/40 window is, it is basically the section of the world between the 10° and 40° latitude lines. Those that live within this section are the most unreached people group regarding the Gospel. (The Joshua Project has more information on this if you are interested in learning more about it.) It just blows my mind that there are people out there who have not heard the Gospel and have not been transformed by it. It breaks my heart. The Word of the Lord brings peace, unity, life, and freedom which is something that every person longs for. Without knowing God as the truth and the source behind all these things, people turn to temporary and unrealistic solutions to fill the void they have in their hearts and community. God created us for worship, love, and community under Him and without the chance to know God there are so many people out there missing this critical piece to the puzzle.

We must act with urgency for there are so many lost souls and too few hours, days, months and years. The beautiful thing about following the Lord and spreading the Good News is that He can use any role, job, and person to do so. Not everyone is called specifically to the mission field and that’s ok. Everyone can be a part of the mission. Without supporters there would be no funds to send the missionaries out. (Shout out to all my lovely supporters!) Without moms we wouldn’t have strong children built on the foundation of the Word. Without fathers we wouldn’t have an earthly and tangible example of the love God has for his children. I could go on and on. Every role and job can be used for the greater good of all the nations. We need to recognize that no matter where we are in life, we can be used in God’s perfect plan. Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, love you neighbor as yourself, do all things to the glory of God, recognize the urgency, say yes, and just go out and do. Following God’s plan is such an amazing adventure and so fruitful. All we have to do is say yes to Him. I challenge you all to ask God how He can use the situation you are in to share the gospel and give Him all the glory. Love ya’ll!
